failed install - PC wont boot

Thread needs solution

I got half way thru the instlal of Acronis True Image 2014 and the progress bar just hung for 2 hours straight. I rbeooted the PC and now its stuck at Welcome/loading screen. Will not boot in safe mode either. What is the quickest way to restore this PC? It is used as a server by 5 users and they are getting very agitated. Boot from Win7 CD and do a system restore?

Boot issues caused by True Image are usually related to problems with the fltsrv and snapman services. Boot the Win7 CD and run regedit. Point to HKLM and use File/Load Hive to load the SYSTEM hive from C:\Windows\System32\config. Name the hive something like REMOTE_SYSTEM. Navigate to REMOTE_SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4d36e967-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318} and remove fltsrv from the UpperFilters. Do the same for REMOTE_SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{71a27cdd-812a-11d0-bec7-08002be2092f}. Now navigate to REMOTE_SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services and delete the fltsrv and snapman services. Then point to the REMOTE_SYSTEM hive and use File/Unload Hive to unload the hive and save the changes. Now try to boot into Windows.
