Failed to read data from disk

Thread needs solution

I get this error for at lease 90 consecutive sectors. Ran CHKDSK /r several timesl no error reported. Ran "REPAIR" from installation file; no change. See attached for the identification of one of those sectors.
How do I get this fixed?

Your post lacks information:

Windows version
Acronis True Image version
Where is the disk reporting the errors? Internal HD, external HD?

Hi David,
Do you have more than one partition on this disk???

Run chkdsk on the other partition as well. chkdsk /f [x:] where x is the drive letter you assigned to the other partition

That error is indicative of a failing hard drive. Download and run the drive manufacturers diagnostic utility.

David,
Almost missed the part of your post where you said you were using the latest build of 2012_7133.

There was a problem with the SnapApi in the earliest builds of 2012. I think #5545. If you have been upgrading over the top of previous versions a problem could have developed. Since the disk has tested ok, I'd uninstall and reinstall ATI.

Using the clean tool may be wise.  Be sure you follow the instructions completely.

Before you do that, have you tried performing this operation from a BOOT CD?
