Failed to read sector - Direct R/W operation has failed. (0x590001)
WD 1 TB drive sata ( Partitioned 500/500 ) win7 ultimate 64.
This problem wouldnt go away, I tried Chkdsk /r /f
So at a last resort I bought Spinrite 6.0 and discovered a massive amount of cabling errors, which lead me to change the lead from the hard drive, which fixed the issue I had.
In future updates for Acronis either Disc Director or True Image could some extra options be added to check the hard drive please.
I think from now on before I do an image I will re-seat the cables
I hope this info helps others.

Hi Paul, I just purchased the True Image program and I'm getting the same message. I don't know very much about computers so I don't know what you meant by "change the lead from the hard drive". Can you please explain what it is I have to do? Thank you so much, Jimmy

Jimmy,
What kind of computer do you have? Changing internal cables is easy to do in a desktop, harder in a laptop.
Before changing cables though, make sure you run chkdsk X: /R from an elevated command prompt on each X: partition of the disk you are backing up. If chkdsk doesn't find anything, check your disk manfacturer's web site for diagnosis tools (often you have to download a small ISO file and burnt it to a CD, then boot the computer on that CD to run the diagnostics).
