File Based Backup Question

Thread needs solution

I want to start using file based backup for my personal documents and files, instead of partition images. However, when creating the backup job I observed that Acronis is creating a .tib file. Does this mean that Acronis is creating an image file, or does Acronis manage file backups with .tib files?

Acronis TI manages files backups by storing them together in a tib file.

Many people posting here think this is risky as you only need the tib file to be corrupted and you will not be able to get any of the files from it.
Suggestions are often made to to backup critical files in their native format using either Windows explorer or other free programmes like Karen's Replicator

TI is great for doing whole drive or partition backups so they can be restored but I would not put all my critical files into a single tib file as the only backup.

Hi there,

Thanks for clarifying this for me. Corrupted tib files are exactly my concern.

I will look into programs like the one you suggested.

I believe the latest version of True Image will let you backup Files and Folders in .zip format. However I haven't tried this since I also use Karen's.
