I backup weekly using an external hard drive and dailey using a zip drive.

So far all of my needs to restore have involved individual files. After many abortive attempts it appears to me that the easiest way to do this is to use Windows (7) Explorer, click on the file to be restored and then right click on "Acronis Recovery." However when I do this only the files backed up weekly on the external hard drive are listed. How can I get the files on the more up-to-date zip drive to be listed also? Is there a better way to restore files? When I click on "Recover" in Acronis "Backup and Recovery" my computer (WIN 7 Professional, Intel I7 chip with 12 GB RAM) goes through some lengthy calculations and finally returns to the place it started without having listed any files.

File restoration was very simple using my old backup program and XP.

If you don't use explorer, are daily backup archives visible from the program itself? What happens if you try to select one of them for recover?

All of the dailey backups are visible in the Acronis program. When I select the backup from the program the computer goes into a lengthy calculation and then either locks up or returns with the same list of backups it started with, but lists no individual backed up files.

When you say "if you don't use explorer" I presume you are talking about "Acronis Backup Explorer." As far as I know I have never been able to find that except a reference to it in the Help file. I would have thought that after clicking on "Recover" from the "Acronis True Image Home" screen I would be taken to the "Acronis Backup Explorer" screen. How do I get to the "Acronis Backup Explorer" screen? I know this sounds like a dumb question, and probably is, but I never have been able to get there. Maybe it is due to my deteriorating 81-year-old brain.

I didn't realize that you were talking about True Image Home, not Backup&Recovery. I'd recommend you to move this topic to the TI Home forum section.

What I was talking about was the Backup & Recovery Tab on Acronis True Image (12) Home screen. Isn't that "Backup & Recovery?"
The Help file keeps referring to Acronis Backup Explorer which I can't find. If I could find it I think I could solve my problem. How do I get to it?
