File size of backup Vs Original

Thread needs solution

I just looked at the size of my backup 870GB vs the original file size 570GB. Why is the backup 300GB larger than the original. I understand if it had to put some extra stuff in there for the recovery but 300GB worth? Is this normal? Thanks

What version and build of TI are you using?

Was a partition you didn't expect to be included in the backup included?

Are there any errors in the partition?

Did TI switch to sector-by-sector mode?

What size is the partition that you backed up?

Sorry about that, I am running True Image 2010.

Nope checked that just the one drive.

How would I know if there are any errors? I looked in the log and it did not show any errors there.

The drive is 931GB and there is 570 on it.

You would need to run chkdsk /f on the drive to check for file system errors. For example, from a Command Prompt: chkdsk c: /f

Did the log say anything about switching to sector-by-sector mode? That may not show as an error (may just be information).

Nope Disk checks good, and looking at the log it does not say anything about swichting to s-by-s
