"File specified does not exist" - operation paused and stopped

Thread needs solution

I am getting messages that operation has been paused and will stop because file specified does not exist. I do not know what backup operation is referred to. However I had deleted backups from the destination external hard drive without using tools provided by Acronis True Image. I cannot find the relevant tool. How do I get rid of the error messages? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Geoffro, welcome to these user forums.

If you have manually deleted files from your backup external drive, then you should now run a Valdiation for the backup task that created those files, and take the option to Ignore any files which validation reports to be missing.  The Acronis database will still 'remember' those missing / deleted files until it has been reconciled by the validation action to know what files still are present.

The recommended method of managing unwanted backup files is to use the automatic cleanup options provided in the task configuration settings, where you can configure, for example, to Store no more than X recent version chains for your backup files.  A 'version chain' = 1 full backup plus all associated differential or incremental backup files for the same backup sequence number.

Automatic cleanup will only run after a new full backup for a new version chain has been created successfully, so if you set to Store no more than 3 recent version chains, your oldest version chain would only be deleted when the 4th version chain has been started with a new full backup file.

Many thanks, Steve. Getting late here and there's a bit of a learnibg curve for me on this, so will work on it tomorrow.

Thanks again'
