The files required for activating the acronis secure zone are not available

Thread needs solution

Booted from TI Home 2010 CD
Tried to activate "Startup Recovery Manager" and got messagebox: "The files required for activating the acronis secure zone are not available"

I didn't try to activate the secure zone.

Did you create the CD with all the correct files? And is Secure zone installed on the computer?

I used the Windows GUI to create the bootable disk. And my understanding was that I didn't need the secure zone to have the recovery-manager work. I think you needed the SZ in earlier versions, but I thought that restriction was removed.

I'm tried this from the CD because the Windows version had trouble activating the Recov Mgr as well.

Have you looked at the CD to see if the ASRM files are on it? They should be in the Recovery Manager folder.

You shouldn't need the SZ.

Here's what I see

\Recovery Manager
\Recovery Manager\bootwiz.bin
\Recovery Manager\f11.cfg
\Recovery Manager\gen_bootmenu.bin
\Recovery Manager\kernel.dat
\Recovery Manager\mouse.com
\Recovery Manager\ramdisk.dat
\Recovery Manager\splash.run

Thanks

Does TI properly see/read the CD/DVD drive? For example, does the drive show up as a backup destination? Perhaps, the TI drivers are recognizing the drive and so it can't find the files.

Another thing that can affect how TI reads discs is the type of media. Sometimes CD-RW or a different brand will work better.

I did boot from the CD. Are you saying that I could have booted from CD but TI doesn't recognize it ?

I'm saying that it's possible that may be the case. I, personally, haven't seen that particular scenario, but I have seen TI burn discs and then not be able to "see" them (TI can read the same disc perfectly from another drive).

Going from that, I would think that it may be possible for TI to boot (the computer to boot) from the TI CD and then TI (itself) can't see/read the disc. The easy test is to try a different CD type (CD-RW, DVD-R, etc.) and see if the problem persists.

I don't see the CD drive as a choice for backup to. I'll try a different media when I get a chance.

I had no trouble with the TI2009 boot disk on the same PC. The 2010 boot CD has been a disaster for me.

1. I can't use my wireless USB keyboard/mouse

2. I can't activate the recovery manager

3. I get a message something like this (it disappears fast)
loading ...
acronis insmod: error inserting /lib/modules/acpiphp.ko
no such device
acronis: cannot open module 'st'
no such file or directory
no raid disks

If TI 2010 is having those types of problems, it's very likely that the Linux drivers being used are not correctly supporting the computer's hardware.

I am getting the exact same error message with Acronis True Image Home 2011 Plus Pack bootable CD. How come Acronis continues to charge money for products that obviously do not work ?

Even their build 6868 doesn't work. pfff
