Filesize - curiousity

Thread needs solution

I have Acronis True Image Home 2010. One of my computers has a terabyte drive that's partitioned into 5 partitions. I have Windows 7 installed on Drive C and XP SP3 on drive D. Once a week I make an image of each one and the filesize of the images are just a little over half of the actual content on each partition. For instance, the used portion of my D drive is 31.2Gb and the image of that drive is 18.5Gb.

The second computer is also XP SP3 which is installed on a single drive and contains about 80Gb of used space. A disk image of that drive is 105Gb, 25Gb more than what it is backing up. I found this out by trying to put the image on and external 100Gb drive and getting a "drive full" error.

Why so much?

What size is the partition on the second computer?

Is a sector-by-sector backup being created?

Does the log show anything different?
