Find what's changed in incremental backups

Thread needs solution

From day to day, the incremental backup is sometimes small, and sometimes huge. I want to know what's included in an incremental backup, so I can choose whether I want to exclude it.

I know the incremental includes everything that changed.
I don't know what is changing.

Can I somehow see what has changed, in an individual incremental backup?

It seems like a common request, but there is no way to know what has been included in an incremental backup.

Windows makes some changes like: automatic defragmentation, shadow copies (system restore), indexes. Some of these changes are in files that are actually not backed up (like shadow copies) but replaced by a placeholder in a disk and partition backup
