First time user looking for suggested product for cloning.
Hello,
I recently had a problem with one of my laptops not being able to boot. I am able to access the hd and I was going to move data bit by bit to another hd and reinstall programs and what not. I heard about Acronis and that I am able to use it to clone my hd to another hd and everything would be like it was without any reinstalling of os or programs.
Looking over the different products I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on which one would best meet my needs. I do not need to sync any pc's, just clone one hd to another.
Thank you for any input.

1. Acronis True Image Home can make a backup of a working hard drive. When that backup is restored to another drive, the new drive will be exactly like the original: operating system; installed applications; user data; etc.
2. As your current hard drive is not functioning properly, I would not rely on any backup image made from it.
3. I would not attempt anymore to boot from that drive. Remove it from the PC, install it into an external enclosure or drive interface and attempt to salvage your user data from it. If it mounts and is viewable within Windows Explorer, you may be able to just copy the files from the old drive to another drive. If not, then you may wish to try a drive recovery tool, but Acronis True Image Home is not such a tool.
4. You'll need to do a fresh install of Windows and your applications on a new drive to replace the defective drive.
5. Once you have a working, error-free operating system installation, with your installed applications and data, then Acronis True Image Home will be an ideal tool to use for backups. If you have a full disk backup image, the next time you suffer disk failure your recovery process will be much simpler. You would replace the defective OS drive with a fresh drive, restore the latest backup image to it, and you'll be back in business.
