Fix Mbr 3

Thread needs solution

In TIH 2009 - I guess this error is because I defragmented my drive?  Well I did and I will continue to do so.

So what is the solution to keep it from happening?

This solution: http://kb.acronis.com/content/1866 talks about Director and Vista.  What's the solution for 2009 and XP?

Is a new partition the answer?  If so, what happens when I extend my large partition, will it move this small partition over?  Will this error come back?

Thanks.

If you're using the latest build of TI 2009 (9,796) and the ASRM is activated, the problem is probably the same. The booting files got moved. You would need to reactivate the ASRM.

To avoid it happening again, exclude the Acronis files from being defragmented (if possible). Creating another partition won't help because TI will still be installed to the Windows partition. I don't think you can separate the ASRM file from the installation and I don't think that you're given a choice where the files are placed if TI isn't installed.
