Full and Incremental Backups

Thread needs solution

A new archive was made for the full back after the backup was run. I copied and paste the full backup to the new directory. The incremental directory was created and executed. Does this matter? I ran an incremental backup which was a full backup. Then ran another incremental backup. Will the next incremental correspond to the full backup even through it was moved to the new directory?

The way I understand it, (I don't do incrementals), when you choose to do an Inc. you will be asked which Backup is will be part of - or words to that effect. So you just point the process to wherever you have the Backup.

You can simulate editing your specific task and see what the next projected file name and type will be.

1. Open TrueImageHome 2010
2. Click on Task & Logs
3. Right click on specific task and choose Edit
4. Along left margin, click on Archive Location
5. Now look carefully at what is displayed.
--a. In the target selection window, it shows whether the next backup will be a full one or one added to an existing backups.
--b. In the backup location window, it show the name and number of the next backup awaiting creation.
6. Click cancel since you are only simulating.
7. The actual editing of a existing backup can cause problems. If editing needed, it is better to create a fresh new task with the revised parameters.
