Full Disk Backup

After reading the differences between full, differential and incremental backup, it seems the safest, most reliable back up is a full backup. I sent up a custom scheme, only deleting full backups older than 7 days. However, I'm not certain a full backup was created. When I was using the version scheme, my backup folders were titled My_partitions (1), My_partitions (1)2 and so forth. Within the folder, then it has My_partitions (1), My_partitions (1)2, My_partisions (1)3 and so on with all the drives I backup (C:, D:, G:). When I attempted to do a full backup, the folder was titled My_partitions (1)42, with the only one file titled My_partitions 2. Is that correct?
