Generated vs. downloaded bootable rescue media?

Thread needs solution

True Image Home 2009, build 9796

I created a bootable CD from within True Image (Protection Tools->Create Bootable Rescue Media), but I also see an option to download a file from the "My Account" section of the Web site: "Product native bootable media"

The two ISO files are of significantly different sizes (generated is 66.8MB, downloaded is 31.8MB); do they have different capabilities?

I've seen a few messages in the forum from people having trouble using their generated recovery media and they're usually directed to download the image from the Web site; should I just toss the one I generated and burn a copy of the downloaded file?

If the CD you created using TI works okay, there's no reason to download the ISO version from your account.

The downloaded ISO uses a different loader and contains more updated drivers. It also boots to a different menu for selecting TI using preset optional parameters.

However, it's completely up to you. You can have both CDs if you want.

True Image 2015 build 6525

Does your answer still apply today? Assuming the same build (e.g. 6525) is used...is there any difference between; 1) creating a bootable rescue media through TI  OR  2) Creating the media using the downloaded ISO version?

You mentioned, "you can have both" which indicates, to me, there's some difference.  What's the difference?

Thank you.

p.s. Yes, I could create both and compare, but why waste a writable disk...?

This is an extremely old post dating 2009, the version of today are the same either downloaded or built from within the TI app. The exception would be if a subsequent boot media were released between full app updates.

Good to hear that - thanks again!
