Also this in the log?

I believe Acronis are aware of this log error, and are as they say, 'looking into it'.

This problem does not go away in TI2013 even if the Synch Agent Service is set to Manual. If the Synch Agent Service is disabled then TI Console comes up with Synch Agent Service Error - restart your computer.

Does anyone else have this problem and is there a cure?

XYZbird,

If you log out of Sync from within the GUI, you shouldn't get the error message.

Thanks Colin for your response. I don't quite understand logging out of Synch within the GUI. I did find that setting the log view event source from All to Backup, these error events don't show. Can you please elaborate.

Edit: If this is something to do with the Synchronisation tab where you are requested to enter your Acronis account details which I have not previously done, then doing this creates your pc name at your account on the Acronis site and I wait for it to settle and log off, then the Event Source All log says Synchronisation has been stopped. There were some console errors before this that said my subscription had expired. Closing TI and reopening caused TI to stop responding and created a Windows error log. Anyway next attempt it started OK - I will monitor what happens as time goes by.

What happens if I unlink the PC on my Acronis account? I mean will it affect this and the Synch error resumes?

Xyzbird,

Yes, I was referring to the logon/off for Syncs, if you never log on or leave it logged off along with having the service disabled you shouldn't get that error message. If you unlink the synch, it just means your PC and any synchs you have will not be able to make any synchs and those you have will be deleted.

I would also suggest trying a repair install of 2013 as you shouldn't be seeing these messages.

Thanks Colin.

I have 2 PC's each running TI 2013, one with W7/32 Home and other W7/64 Ultimate - both behaved exactly the same when I did a TI 2013 repair instal just now which did not stop these errors.

The services for Nonstop Backup and Synchronisation reverted to default automatic. So I set the Nonstop Backup back to Manual - exactly as I did when I had ATI 2012 to avoid associated log errors.

But the Synchronisation service starts itself when set to manual - unlike ATI 2012 when I recall there were no subsequent errors.

It seems with TI 2013 it's simply a matter of logging in and out of Synchronisation to stop error logs - I will monitor over time to see if there are no more log errors.

Edit: No - spoke too soon. It seems the Synch error will not go away. Another thing I noticed if the Synch service is set to disabled - Windows Reliability Monitor reports COM Surrogate as a critical error and, of course, seeking a solution never achieves anything. COM Surrogate eventually falls back to DllHost.exe stopped working. So it looks like this Synch error problem is here for the duration or until Acronis notice that it is a problem as noted earlier in this topic months ago.

There is a work around for the com surrogate error it involves renaming a True Image DLL file. This will be fixed in the next build, or so I understand.

Colin I think I have sorted my Synch error problem. I renamed the TI DLL file as suggested by Oleg in the COM Surrogate Failure topic 35064 - post #43, as you hinted. I will keep testing as the problem could reappear as I have found that some logs don't appear right away. I still occasionally get a W7 Reliability Monitor critical event for TI Image Home stopped working.

Come to think about it I don't need Synch as I already use W7 Homegroup over my wireless router between my two PC's which appears to be a similar system.

So with the way things stand at the moment, if you don't want to use Non Stop Backup and Synchronisation and do not want associated log errors, then set the associated services to manual. In fact I found it doesn't matter whether the Acronis Synch Agent Service is set to automatic or manual - it still starts. Setting it to disabled causes a load of log errors again (I have seen various posts where people have done this apparently without problems; may have been on 2012 version).

Perhaps some future update will have choices in the GUI.
