Getting Acronis 2014 to activate

Thread needs solution

I had to redo my PC due to hardware failure. Now I have dowloaded my 2014 version which is an upgrade from 2011 but Acronis 2014 would not accept my registration code. I understand from Tech Support it is an upgraded version and needs additional info.

I have been using my 2011 emergency disk to do backups/restores. My 2014 code was registered but not my 2011 code. I searched for and found my 2011 version and code and registered it. I downloaded the 2011 version to try and update it, but when I click on the 2014 version it just starts 2011 Acronis.

Now that I have all the information what steps do I need to take to get the 2014 version activated?

Hello Roger,
When you perform this type of upgrade, we recommend this procedure.

Uninstall the previous version of ATIH. Run the clean up utility. Now install the new version of ATIH and activate.

Here's why: There were a great many changes made in the software between these two versions. Dramatic enough that upgrading over the top of an existing install might cause unexpected results in certain situations.

An upgrade install can be done cleanly without needing to install the previous version. The "new" upgrade installer is aware and will ask that you supply the old serial number (for 2011) and the new serial number (for 2014) in order to activate.

If you didn't purchase the 2014 as an upgrade to 2011, your 2014 installer is likely a full version and doesn't have any dependency on 2011. This means you don't have to install 2011 or use its key to install a full (non-upgrade) version of 2014. Hope this makes sense.

Here is a link to the clean up utility. I would suggest uninstalling both applications from your machine, then run the clean up utility. Follow all instructions completely <<<. Now restart. Install 2014 and activate. https://kb.acronis.com/content/34876
