Ghost backup task folders - resurrect after deletion

Thread needs solution

Acronis TIH-2014 Pro. Odd thing happened a few times. I deleted an HDD full backup task, it is erased from the backup task list, and all backups in its folder are also deleted with this command. The only thing then left behind is the "empty" task backup folder itself, which I delete manually.

However, after a system reboot, suddenly the "My Backups" folder once again has the previously deleted (empty) folder. The deleted task itself is still absent in TIH-2014, so it won't get restarted. But ... there seems to be a bug in deleting remnants of "old tasks".

I assume Acronis scans its list of scripts and recreates the defunct folder - even though I have disabled "scanning for backups" on restart. I only do that with a manual scan command in ATIH, since it picks up irrelevant files on C-drive, otherwise.

On a previous occasion, I had been creating several HDD backup tasks, with different names, to test out a backup drive. Eventually, I would delete each task after each test, and create a new one, with a slightly different name. There were perhaps a half dozen such deleted tasks, and I manually deleted their empty folders to keep things tidy, before I rebooted Windows.

Sure enough, the deleted tasks folders suddenly reappeared in My Backups !!!

Acronis developers should look into this bug, and make sure that when a task is deleted, it doesn't resurrect its previous folder upon reboot. IN fact, the original scrip should be deleted as well (wherever they are hiding). Over the year(s), the backup drive will get crowded and confused with irrelevant deleted task folders.

I have the exact same problem (have had it with EVERY previous version of ATI that I have had) and it appears this problem goes way back and there is no solution. It carries over from one version to the next when upgrading too It's ridiculous that this keeps happening without getting fixed. Come on Acronis, GET IT TOGETHER AND FIX THIS ANNOYING ISSUE!!!! The only thing that works for me is to completely uninstall TI, reinstall it from scratch and recreate ALL backup jobs again....... simply because I don't want old, empty, unused, deleted backup folders from reappearing every time TI starts up (it's not only at windows startup, but whenever you start TI).

Indeed, I suspect this will be the issue.

All I'm saying is that when I was doing my search for the "solution" there were posts for nearly every version complaining about the same issue. All the while there are these long and drawn out discussions on how or why it's happening and numerous "speculations" on how to go about getting it to do what you want (basically, stop recreating backup folders for backups that I told TI to remove). Links to other posts that linked to other posts that linked to other posts about how and why and try this eventually leading me down a rabbit hole of total and utter confusion and a desire to find a different product. It's not hard to recreate this issue, so fixing it shouldn't be hard at all.

So, isn't it about time to actually fix the problem from within the app itself instead of putting the burden on the end user to figure out a workaround? It's obvious this isn't a new issue, it's been around for a LONG time. I keep getting emails from Acronis for the "latest and greatest" version, but I hesitate to upgrade, since by now I'm a little weary that these and other issues will not be fixed, but rather just another GUI update to be more "in the now". Overall I like the product, but these things can be a deal breaker, especially if someone else creates a competing product that doesn't have these issues. I would have no reason not to at least try it.
