HELP - Can't Restore From ATI Backup - corrupt or locked??

Thread needs solution

I have ATI 2013, and am trying out ATI 2018.  Trying to restore a user after a Windows reset, but having trouble.  As you can see _b77_s1_v1 is the only backup that appears.  Since the data I need is not in this backup, I tried to restore from _b76_*, and tried to add that to the list, but no success.

This is what I get:

I used the Lockhunter app to see if the file was in use, but it came back negative in all cases. Not sure what the last sentence of the message means; there are many "v" files from _b77. Should I move the TIB file(s) to another location on the NAS? My HD on the laptop doesn't have enough room for a 200+ GB file.

What can be done to restore anything from the "76" version? I was going to update to ATI 2018, but what's the point if all of these backups get corrupted? I'm backing up to a Synology NAS on my wireless network (in the same room). I tried to restore with ATI 2013 first, but got the same results.

Henry, welcome to these User Forums.

Please note that there is a separate ATI 2018 Forum to deal with questions about that particular product rather than posting in this forum for obsolete product versions (such as your 2013 product).

The first question here is to ask: What exactly are you wanting to do here?
Second question: Are these backups from the same computer you are using in the images?

When you use the option to Add existing backup and pick a backup image file from the list (as shown in your screen shot), then because all of those files come from the same original backup task, then only one such task will be shown in the GUI, i.e. Henry_full_b77_s1_v1 but information about all previous files for this backup chain will be available in the Recovery tab where this is shown in the form of a drop down list of dates/times for when backups were made.

The alternative method that can be used here, is to simply double-click on the individual .TIB file on your backup storage drive in Windows Explorer, which should then open the file and allow you to browse the contents, and to Copy / Paste data from the backup file.

Note: if you are attempting to restore User profile files that would normally be locked by Windows, then you should be using the Acronis Rescue media to boot your computer and then access your backup drive in that way - you should use a network cable or move the files to a USB drive as there is very limited wireless support with the Rescue Media.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your prompt response.

I’m trying to get application setting files from the backups, which were done on this same computer. I had major problems as a result of a recent Windows 10 update, and had to do a reset which, removed all the apps, but was supposed to leave all the data...not exactly what happened.

I’ve reinstalled the major apps like Firefox and MS Office 2013, but need to get config info and history, bookmarks, passwords, etc.. When I tried to restore from the +”77” files the needed files were not in the backup, so I tried to get it from the earlier 76 set, but when I tried it, I got the error message.

I tried to use Explorer to find the TIB files, and double click them.  As I went through the directory structure, a double-click took me down one level, and popped up the contents of that level and the following (see pic below), asking to "locate the last volume of the backup".  I got down to the correct user profile (Henry) and tried to drag and drop folder to my Desktop,  the pointer had the little + sign. This  box kept popping up, but nothing new was appearing on the Desktop.

Finally, the backups were created with ATI 2014 (I forgot that I upgraded from 2013). After the Windows reset I had to reinstall the ATI, and only found the 2013 license key.
