Help: Missing Operating System (XP)

Thread needs solution

Hi, I need some help.
I have a laptop with XP. There are 2 partitions: C and D.
I have a full Acronis.tib backup of the whole disk.
What I want to do is to change the 2 partitions: put the C (active) in the part of the disk containing the D partions, and putting the D partition where the old C active partition was.

The scheme is the following.
OLD SITUATION: MBR - C (active) - D (logical)
NEW SITUATION: MBR - D (logical) - C (active).

I tried to restore, the restore was succesfull, but...when I tried to boot I had the error: missing operating system.

I think (but I am not sure) that the reason is that at boot someting is read that points to the cylinders of the disk where the active partition is not present anymore.

After that, since my trial was unsuccessful, I did put again the partitions in the original positions. But still I would like to change their physical order inside the disk. Could someone say to me if it is possible and eventually tach me how to do it?

Thank you in advance

May I ask why you want to swap positions? On most drives, performance past the middle of the drive may average half that of the beginning. The fastest part is usually the first quarter.

Also, especially with XP, it's simpler if the Windows partition is first.

It is possible to swap them. Most likely something wasn't configured correctly or the restore was done incorrectly. TI is usually pretty good about updating the system to boot properly.

What version of TI are you using?
