Help Please -- Using TI2013 to Restore Drive

Thread needs solution

Before I buy the product, please advise if TI2013 can do the following on a Win 8 machine:
x Back up the hard drive in a Win 8 computer to an external USB drive
x Boot the Win 8 computer from a CD or DVD
x Restore the Win 8 computer hard drive or a new hard drive installed in the computer from the external hard drive after booting from the CD or DVD

In other words, I want to use it like I have been using Norton Ghost. What Acronis software besides TI 2013 do I need to do this?

Thanks

No one can honestly give you a positive "yes" to your question.

In theory and past practice for versions prior to Win 8, the produce has done exactly what you are asking to be done. However,Win8 has brought new hardware and we are all learning again with Win8. Hardware and settings differ among manufacturers. Some users are doing exactly what you wnat done while others are strugglying with settings.

You can use the trial version to test what you want to do but it would require that you install the produjct before a test would be possible. A better choice might be to go ahead and buy the software online from Acronis as they offer a 30 day money backup guarantee--if requested within the 30 day period from date of purchase.

With the purchased version, once you have registered the 64 character serial lnto your account, you can download both the program but also download the bootable iso download. Using the Windows 8 burn software, you can burn the iso into a bootable media CD which will enable you do to a complete backups of your system BEFORE installing the software. This exercise will also enable you to find out if your system will boot the 2013 CD and see all your disks.

If you intend to install the test rather than purchase(right away(, I would suggest that (at the very least) BEFORE INSTALLING 2013) you use the Windows Backup software and create a complete system restore backup (not just a restore point). The backup file size will be about the same size as your used space. The path on a Win 7 machine is via START/CONTROL PANEL/BACKUP & RESTORE/"Create a system image". If you have not created your Windows System Repair Disk, be sure an do so without delay.

Any installation of backup software is intrusive and I would recommend the backups be created before install any brand of backup software.
