Help Required - Restoring Image
Hi,
I posted earlier on another part of the forum because I did not have the boot disk or know the version of Acronis used to make a backup image. However, I now know the version (2015) and have the boot disk. I am currently trying to restore a Windows backup disk image on my brothers laptop as he had problems with his PC.
As things stand I am in the process of trying to restore the image I have backed up on an external drive. However, I have not done this before and I do not want to mess things up, so would be really grateful if someone could help guide me through the process.
I shall attach some screenshots to this post and try and describe what I have done and what I am unsure of.
step 1: Archive selection
On this screen I just clicked "Next".
step 2: Recovery Method
On this screen I selected "Recover whole disks and partitions" and the clicked "Next".
step 3: What to recover
On this screen I selected disk 1 and then clicked "Next".
step 4: Settings of Partition 1-1
This is when I become unsure. I think you select "New Location" in the partition section, is this correct?
Step 5: New Partition Location
Still unsure what to do at this screen. I think you don't select anything and just click "Accept". Is this correct?
I have the same problems as step 4 & 5 for the other "settings of partition".
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Since you are unsure of how to proceed and you are attempting a restore be aware that support for restoration is not limited to the 30 day support period. I would recommend that you contact support a link for which appears at the top right of this page. Once on the support page choose Contact Support from the menu on the right side of the page, answer the questions asked, and choose a contact option.
From the looks of it I think you are working with a Dynamic GPT disk. Choosing to restore the entire disk at once might result in a partition being restored in the wrong location. It would be best for Support to help out in your situation.

Look at this

figure 7 and after.
I don't think you have to go through the partitions steps. YOu can simply choose finish.
