HELP!!! UNABLE TO CLONE TO BRAND NEW HDD 3TB

Thread needs solution

HELP!!!

I want to clone my internal 1TB Seagate Baracuda to a brand new, out of the box, WD Caviar Green 3TB.

I booted the system using the Acronis Boot CD.

I selected tools/utilities to select clone option.

I selected source: 1TB (internal sata hdd) . I selected target 3TB WD. (connected using sharkoon sata dock to usb)

I gave the program permission to go!

I got message "Disk Clone Failed".

What's the next thing to try.

Full Acronis True Image Home 2011 Version.

Please help me!!

I would try doing it with an image rather than cloning. Start by shrinking the WD partition by 1GB and creating a new 1 GB partition in the vacated space. Boot to the CD and image your Seagate drive to the new partition. Next remove the Seagate and install the WD in its place. Then you can reboot to the CD and restore your image to the main partition. If you don't want the 1GB partition it can be deleted and the main partition restored to its original size.
