How to back up one disk and some folders from another

Thread needs solution

In my computer I have 23000 image files on the D disc and the latest 2000 image files in the C disc (as the D disc was too small for all). Now I want to back up all images to a new big external disc. How do I back up the whole D disc and several folders in the C disc?

All the image folders and images have date numbers in the european way, e.g. 20120329, meaning that later folders and images have higher number (better, I think, than American higgledy-piggledy). Is it possible to get the folders automatically in proper order?

I solved my first question using Backup and recovery > Disk and partition backup. As I feared the ATIH placed the image folders in the big external HD like this C:20120507 - 20120630 (YYYYMMDD) and D:20050329 - 20120506. However I want all image folders in D, thus D:20050329 - 20120630.
Questions:
1) Can I move the folders in the HD from C: to D:? And if so, how do I do? (This is easy in Windows, but after the ATIH operation the backed up folders do not look and behave like Windows).
2) Is it possible to delete some of the backed up folders and files in the external HD? How?

I'm not sure if I can help, but I think you are saying you have images contained in folders on both your "C" drive, and your "D" drive with folder names such as 20120507, 20120508, etc. I don't think you need to use Acronis to place them on the new hard drive. You should only need to connect your new external drive and copy the folders from "C" to the external drive, and then copy the folders from "D" to the external drive. When you open the external drvie to view the files, if they are not in the order you wish to view then in, change the sort order, or change the view to details and sort the folders by name. Once the files are on the external drive and you are happy with that, you could then delete the folders on the "C" and "D" drives. Although this may get you the desired result, if the files only reside on your external drive, you would not have a backup of them, and if that drive fails you would lose these files/folders. If you need to delete the contents on the new external drive, and start over, just do a quick format on it. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your effort, James.
I often work with images, maybe same years old, and change them (colors, brightness, sharpening etc.) before printing. Then with an incremental software I only need to back up this changes, not the entire mass of image files.
But as ATIH is using a special format (.tab) you may be right. Perhaps Lightroom does not recognize and cooperate with these? I will ask this in a new question in the forum.
