How to backup to a USB connected HDD encrypted with TrueCrypt

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I use TI Home 2010 with Windows 7.

I have an external HDD (regular 7200rpm 200gb 3.5inch) which is connected via USB2 to my laptop.
The HDD works fine, and after I encrypted it with TrueCrypt and mounted it as the letter Z:

Windows seems to see this HDD as just another HDD on the system.

When I try to use the Nonstop feature to backup my PC to that Z: drive, it can't find it.

Any ideas on why?

I contact the chat support on two other matters:
Q: Can I use the Nonstop feature to have my backups encrypted and password protected just as I would a Normal backup?
A: No.

Q: Can I use the Nonstop feature to backup to a network drive or a mapped network drive?
A: No.

So at this point, I don't expect much of TI Home 2010, but I'm thing that TI Home 2009 worked with a TrueCrypt encrypted drive as such.

Ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Make the bootable Rescue CD, boot with it and use the Backup feature on it to see if it will see the external encrypted drive. If it doesn't then it's not going to see it using any other feature of True Image.

The only problem I have with it, is that Nonstop feature doesn't see the mounted and encrypted Z: drive.

Doing a normal Full/Incremental/Differential backups is not an issue at all. TI Home 2010 sees the Z: drive and does the backup to it just fine.

Again, just the Nonstop feature won't see the Z: drive.. so I just wonder why one feature would work and another would not.

Well I don't have an answer except to say that there's nothing strange about a feature of True Image acting strangely.
