How to copy task?

Thread needs solution

Is there a way to duplicate a task? I want to duplicate an existing task with some minor changes. I'm hoping to copy an existing task rather than make a new one.

Hello Ray,

Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/ | Acronis True Image Home 2009]]

All your schedule tasks are saved in a file by the following directory (default) C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Acronis\TrueImage\Scripts

Even if you change/edit an existing task the task file name will remain so it’s not possible just to copy this task. It’s also not possible to do it by means of the program.

What if I copy the task file to a file with a different name.  Would it show up in Acronis Home?  Would it be run as scheduled?

Too bad.

That probably won't work as the task names are machine generated CSLID type names. Whilst changing just one number or letter might work, if there is some form of integrity check then the file name will of course fail as the checksum/digit will be incorrect.

Hello Ray,

Thank you for using Acronis Products

Colin is right it’s not possible just t change one letter in script and make the task functional. You will have to create another schedule task in your situation.

For the developers. Serious data protection requires redundant backups. Weekly backups by day of the week suggest that it would be a great benefit to allow the use of an existing task as a template for new ones.

Ron

You can clone a task, though I have found that altering the schedule or name on a cloned task, interesting things sometimes happen.

Hello all,

RonaldK, I have forwarded your suggestion to the responsible person, thank you very much!
