How to create rotating incremental backup that replaces prior backup in rotation automatically

Thread needs solution

I would like for my ATH12 to create a full backup, then add incremental backups for x number of days, then do the whole thing again, deleting the prior backup automatically so that I can limit the amount of space used on my hard drive. Is that possible? If so, please direct me to the instructions on how to do it.

Thanks
Ken K

Yes, it is possible. Check out Grover's guides: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/28705

Kenneth,
As Pat indicated, check out the link. Work your way down each of the illustrations. The figure 11-inc is the backup scheme you are describing but change the 6 and 4 to whatever fits your needs. Read the comments surrounding each picture for a better understand of what is happening.

One other question: is there a similar process for True Home 11? I still have one computer that runs that until I convert it to Win 7, and I would like to change the backup to the same type of rotating backup.

Thanks
Ken K

Yes, if referring to the 2011 version.
No, if referring to the older version 11.
If version 11, check out the feature "backup locations" and see if that option helps.

I have True Image Home version 11, build 8,101. That does not sound like it is the 2011 version, so I will upgrade it (with some trepidation)

I have to say that that older version seems to function more reliably than the 2012 version, as the 2012 version has failed me twice: once when it did not find my drives, and the second time when it said that my backup was not valid... somehow I was able to get around those problems but it caused some anxiety to say the least.

If still using the vers 11 on XP, check the vers 11 menus and the user guide for what options you do have.

Thanks.

Meanwhile, I have worked through your guide for 2012 to set up the rotating incremental backup, and 1, I would NEVER have figured it out on my own, and 2, assuming it works and I have no reason to think otherwise, MANY, MANY THANKS for your time (btw, what program do you use to make the annotations-the circles, lines, etc? Nicely done)

Yes, it should work. Post back if you have any other issues.

As for my examples, I start TrueImage and get to the spots and then take a screen capture of the scene.

Once the capture is saved. I open it any my picture editing program (most any will do). I use the functions of the picture editing to add the arrows or comments or colors, etc. Each picture is custom sized and cropped and saved. When done, I then upload all the pictures to the Acronis forum for display.

There are a variety of screen captures--many free. I use an old version of the then free Snag-it.
Win 7 has a capture built in.
Most any picture editing program will suffice and there are numerous free ones. I use an 6 year old version of UlLead Photo Impact.
