How to delete corrupt backup?

Thread needs solution

I manually run a partition backup on my laptop to an external drive every night with no problems. On rare occasions the backup runs and the laptop shuts down automatically without any error messages but when I try to run the same backup the next day I am prompted that the backup is corrupt. I think what happens is that half way through the backup process my Java updates automatically download/install from the Internet so that by the time the Validation part of the process runs Acronis detects something doesn't 'add up' That is my hypothesis. In the dim and distant past I would simply delete the last backup file from my external hard drive and re-run the backup and all was well. With this (2011) version I cannot seem to do this - this simple problem is driving me mad!

When this happens, what are the simple steps a simple guy like me needs to take when I next get this prompt. Please don't suggest I run advanced diagnostic tests on my processor as I don't believe it is that complex. Acronis really need to make these type of problems easier to resolve - far too many hoops to jump through and still no answers.

Tom,

a) You can delete the last versions of a backup. In ATI, click on the explore button, a new window will pop up. You will see dates at the bottom (see picture), you can right click on a date and delete it. Validate your backup afterwards. If it validates, you are done. If it doesn't, use option b)

OR

b) You can delete all the entire backup, in ATI. Click on Operations > Delete backup. This will delete everything: settings, schedule and TIB files. If any TIB files of that backup are left, you can safely delete them manually. You will have then to set up a new backup task, better with a new name in a new folder.

OR

c) You can delete the tib files manually, but this is not a recommended path. If you go that route, then launch ATI and remove (Operations > More> Remove from the list) the backup from the list. You can then try to manually validate the remaining TIB files (right click on the file > Archives > Validate). This will add back some file in the UI whether it succeeds or not. Either case, you might have to remove them afterwards to unclutter your list of backups. You will have then to set up a new backup task, better with a new name in a new folder.

Many Thanks Pat.

Re a) I don't have an 'explore button'?
Re b) Under the Operations link 'Other' isn't an option in the drop-down
Re c) I don't have a 'Remove backup' option in the drop-down

I am using Acronis True Image Home 2011 Update 1 (build 6696)

It is called explore and recover for a file backup, and it is a blue "explore all versions" link for a disk and partition backup. See attached.

Yes, I have edited my previous post. The remove option is under Operations > More (which I called "other"), and Delete is directly under Operations

If it says recover only, this means you have only one backup. You can use option b).
