How to disable auto file rename?

Thread needs solution

Hi, this actually happened since older versions and although very annoying to me I deal with it by renaming the backup file every single time after backup.

My question is, how to remove the auto rename function that adds description like "_full_b1_s1_v1" after the file name? To me this is extremely annoying, I don't like it at all and once I rename the file (by removing the _full_b1_s1_v1), it may not appear properly in the backup list.

Thank you.

You cannot change this setting. Also, you should never manually rename the TIB files.

Renaming the files will 'confuse' the ATI database. You can copy the TIB file to a differnt HDD and give it a new name. You will have trouble restoring from such TIB files, but you should be able to mount them in Windows explorer. You can then accessing individual files.

This feature is very annoying and I prefer to use my own naming convention. I have used Acronis for many years and have always named backups myself. This feature is a sign of software bloat.

What a shit!

There is really a problem with the naming; altough I changed the backup name in the parameters, TI is keeping an old name.

What if you are replacing a crashed hard drive and are recovering to a new one when the ATI database is no longer available? The confusing argument is a specious one. I always test my backup and recovery procedures and have recovered from a renamed file just fine.

You appear to be ignoring calls for more user control on filenames.

Its what WE the users want, so will not be upgrading until the forums show you have listened to users concerns.

An explanation of your supplied file naming convention (2014) would be useful

Otherwise a great product, let your users guide you, not some deranged marketing guru/

Alan,
Here is the user manual on 2014 backup naming.

More discouraging news.
Version 2015 is even less flexible and fewer choices
