How do I delete a corrupted backup?
I have a weekly Full Backup of my system drive that runs every Sunday morning. This morning, the backup was partially complete when I got an error accessing my NAS (the destination of the backups). Now I have a corrupted backup.
This is fine as I simply want to delete it and start the backup again. However, I'm not allowed to simply delete the backup from the filing system as TIH keeps a record of in its database. If I use the 'Explore and Recover' option to view the backups, I get an error saying 'Failed to open archive System_C_Image_Backup3.tib'. So I can't select the backup to delete it.
How can I select and delete this corrupted backup?
Thanks for any help.
Mark
Edit: Help says to use 'Explore and Recover' to delete the backup, but that option doesn't show any backups because of being unable to open the corrupted backup.

If I am understanding correctly, all backups are full backups and none are incremental or differential.
If each tib file is a full backup, then each should be a standalone file which can be moved and validated as a single file after moving. If it were me, I would use Windows Explorer move the files (without TI knowing) to a new folder with each file in its own folder. Then boot from the CD and validate each file individually using the CD.
After all done, start a new task pointing to a new empty folder or sub-folder. Disable the old task or make it do not schedule.
If it were me, that is how I would proceed.

Usually, if you try to delete and you get the "can't find" message, ati still updates the database and no longer shows the errant tib.
Go outside ati (exploerer) and delete the file you want to delete. then reload ati and if and entry still shows, then try to delete it in ati to force ati to update its database. This has been working for me when ati2012 orphans a tib or fails to complete the creation of one.
Note that ati is very touchy with networks so sometimes network backups don't work, most often because of network seciruty strictures or time-outs.

Thanks for the replies guys. I have it deleted now and TIH is happy that it's no longer there. In the end I deleted the file in Explorer and then restarted TIH (rebooted actually, but a restart would have probably done it).
The original problem was in fact caused by a timeout backing up to my NAS. I did something really silly and deleted some massive files while the backup was taking place. That caused the NAS to go 100% on the CPU for a while and the backup gave up.
Lesson learned : don't play with the NAS while a backup is running!
Thanks again for the help. Very much appreciated.

Networks! The term in and of itself is something of an oxymoron.
good luck,

I purchased two licenses each for ATI Home 2012 - and the Plus Pack - one set for each of my computers.
I installed them on each of my computers and registered and activated them.
At installation both copies worked and I was able to back up both systems. Yesterday, I wanted to do another backup on my net book. The program no longer works, instead I get a basic single page that gives information on what ATI does - there are several tabs but none of them work. The application itself does not load.
I never used my support privilege because everything seemed to be working. I think it would be fair for Acronis to extend my support to get the problem resolved. I have used ATI for years and recommended it to many other people.
Getting help from Acronis seems to be impossible, at least that seems to bethe impression I am getting from reading various comments.
If this is not the correct place to find help, could someone please direct me to the appropriate link?

Hi Gene,
I think you posted that in the wrong place.

Waler's post should have been/should be a new, separate thread. The only way to get support after the no additional charge period is to pay and then get your support charge refunded when and if support decides your problem was due strictly to a bug in ati. Personally, I would hesitate to take that gamble.
RE the problem on your machine. have you tried doing a repair install or, if the prob persists, try unistalling and reinstalling? FI the prob persists, you can try running teh ati cleaner for ati2012:

If that fails, try to get a copy of an earlier version.
During unisntalls and installs, it's always a good idea to use msconfig.exe:
