How do I do recovery CD with Acronis True Image Home?

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I want to do something like a Ghost recovery CD for my C drive. How do I do a recovery CD for a 50GB partition into a normal DVD? Or do I need multiple DVD to do this recovery? I only had 1 DVD and it asked me to insert first media....I'm not sure how many DVD it is needed. Pls help.

Hi Lewis,

You can save a backup to a DVD and first of the created DVDs will be bootable. To do this you need to place Acronis One-Click Restore to the media. Check out Chapter 9.4.1.8 Removable media settings of the User's Guide for the detailed information. You would need 11 DVD's with no compression but a lot less with normal or high compression.

My preffered option would be to backup to another disk or partition and use the split archive option so that it automatically creates DVD sized volumes that you can burn to DVD yourself afterwards. You can create a rescue CD seperately using the 'create bootable rescue media' option in TI.

As bin has stated, creating a backup to another hard drive such as an external drive is the preferred solution. If one of the DVD become scratched or a data byte can not be read, then the entire backup can become useless.

As to how many DVD you will need.
The size of your backup will be about 65% of your used hard disk space.
Then divide that number of Gigabytes by 4.
Example: Used space=60G
Backup size= 36-42G
DVD=approx 9-10
