How do I manually delete exsting backup version if Im out of space
Im running Update 2 and Windows 10 x64. I have a task that generates a full backup every week with it set to keep only 3 versions. However, the backups were larger than I expected and after 2 backups were created, there was not enough room.
I have read that Acronis decided in their infinite wisdom to remove the ability to manually delete an old backup in 2015 and their advice is to fix the cleanup settings and run a backup.
This cant work for me. I cant complete the backup to get the cleanup task to run.
Obviously I can delete the file in explorer, but that always screws up the backup chain because Acronis loses track of what occurred.
I think there are only a couple of options, all of which are unsupported
1) delete the file in explorer
2) hack around for hours trying to locate and decode where in the world Acronis is storing this internal list of backup versions
3) Post here and pray someone has an answer. I say pray because I never seem to get any responses to my questions.
4) Try 2016 Beta and see if they have restored that feature
Doesnt having a way to run a grooming task as a utility or separate option seem really desirable to anyone else?

Well, 2016 will be no different with this specific issue.
You have a couple issues.
1. You need more space.
2. TI creates the new replacment before it does any deletion so you have even less space to work with than you thought.
3. If you only have the two backups, then use Windows Explorer and manually delete the B1 oldest backup or better yet ,
move it to another disk for further keeping.
4. Cease to use the old backup task. Either change to non-scheduled or choose the task option "remove from list".
5. Create a new backup scheme with the setting to be "store 1 version" as you do not have enough room for the "store 2or 3" due to room needed by creating the replacment first.
