How do I remove a clone from my external backup hard drive?
Hi,
I want to delete, erase, remove, the clone from my external backup drive.
I accidentally created a clone, but I really wanted to create a disk image.
My external (2Tb, HP/WD) hard drive is now a complete copy of my internal (1 Tb) hard drive, but I want to remove all data from the external drive and return it to the state it was in when I bought it.
After that I want to create disk images from several computers I have.
When I run Acronis to make a disk image, I don't see the external drive as one volume, but as several volumes, reflecting the cloned contents of my internal drive, which has 3 drive partitions, C:, D:, and L:.
Thanks for your support,
cheers,
Jan

Hi Scott,
Thanks for the info.
I don't think I 've ever formatted a disk in Windows, but have just checked out Disk Management, and can see
the external drive and drive partitions that were cloned from my internal HD drive.
I also have EASEUS partition manager. Would that be a good tool to restore the external drive to one big 2Tb drive?
I have no time now, but will study it more later.
Cheers,
Jan

You can use windows to do this. IT will erase everything on the drive. Right click on My Computer, click on management, click on disk Management, find the hard disk on the list, select Format. If it's greyed out , you can delete individual partitions, then format, allocating all available space the one partition.

Thanks!
I have just done a Quick format and now have the full 2Tb available.
I can now start making disk images using ATI.
