How do i virus scan a .tib backup?

Thread needs solution

Hi all,

Background info;
I manage a small group of computer retail and repair centres, within each of these centres we have started using ATI to back up clients data when restoring machines to factory defaults.
Once a job is completed we then recover the data back to the machine.

What i want to acheive;
I would like to minimize the virus scanning time on these machines. I would like to backup the hard drive, (full complete hard drive backup) and then scan them while they are in a .tib format.

How we back/restore machines up;
Backup;
Using windows server 2008 r2 i have implemented a PXE boot and added a boot image of ATI.
NOTE: we also use the server for WDS deployment. thus allowing quick network installations.
We then log onto the server using a dedicated backup account (which only has backup/restore privileges) and backup the machines data.
Storage;
The .tib files are stored on a internal hard drive, no other data is on this drive.
Restoring;
Upon completion of work we then boot of the network again and restore ONLY THE RELIVANT DATA (i.e. Users directory, pictures, music ect) back to the machine.

Question;
Is there a way to scan the .tib file (no compression or encryption) and remove virus' & malware ect?

Thanks in advance

Justin :)

Well, if you have a disk and partition backup, you could mount the image in read/write mode, then use the security software installed on the host machine to inspect the mounted disk. The security software could clean anything it finds; when you unmount the image you would see an incremental TIB file that contains any change. You can then restore that incremental backup...
