Universal restore is a tool that is used to restore a full disk image backup of an entire PC on to a different PC than that from which the image was created.
Maybe this link will be of more assistance:

I thought Universal restore Was for Drivers of your hardware Enchantech. So whats the difference between Universal restore and the Rescue Media i thought the Rescue media was for finding your backup that u made. So i'm confused as to what the purpose is for both and totaly cunfused. PLease help me to understand Thank u

Both tools TI Rescue Media and Universal Restore can be used to restore a backup image file to a disk. The Universal Restore prior to the last edition of TI 2014 was an add on module only available in the 2014 Premium version. With the last version of 2014 Universal Restore was spun out as a stand alone application and remains that way with 2015 in that it is possible to create TI Recovery Media which contains both or create as stand alone.
So as I understand it if your one of the users whom system shows that the Rescue Media is a trial version, presuming you have registered the product, this is a known issue with some installations of the product and in that case it is recommended that you create separate stand alone bootable media for both.
The Universal Restore version allows the user to inject driver files during the restore process whereas the Rescue Media does not thus Universal Restore is used when a hardware change necessitates the need to update drivers along with the backup to accommodate the change in hardware.

I'm still confused ??
Acronis True Image 2015: Restoring to Dissimilar Hardware with Acronis Universal Boot
1. Create an Acronis bootable media and boot the target computer (connect the media to your computer and restart the computer).
2. Perform recovery of the backed up system.
3. Download Acronis Universal Boot media builder and create a bootable media containing Acronis Universal Boot - a free tool available for Acronis Customers (see details below), which allows you to make the restored system bootable on dissimilar hardware.
4. Prepare necessary drivers (see details below), boot the target computer and use Universal Boot (see details below) to make the restored system bootable on the new hardware.
5. Now you can start the computer and work with your system restored to the new hardware.
Create an Acronis Bootable Media?? (Which is the Rescue disc Right) boot the target computer. (Which is the Computer u want to install the new backup on Right) or is it still the same PC I'm confused. The rest is all confusing as what are these actions about. once u use the Rescue Media and u boot your backup to it. What is the need of the Acronis Universal Boot. if it loaded Windows and all your stuff. All's u need now is the drivers to be installed Right. I'm really confused as to these steps.
Please help me out. Think u need to post a video tutorial it would help out a lot. These steps do not make any sense. From what i see u still use your own PC and i don't want to do that if u mess up your pc. ya u get my point
Thank u

SO the Universal Restore Recovery Media seems to be a better choice then the Rescue Media. sense u can add drivers to that and Recover the backup file.
I would like to know how to do this if u can give me a simpler step by step guide on to what to do. Thank u

It may not be very plain I admit. The steps are:
1. Perform the restore using the the Rescue media. After that step has been completed then
2. Using the stand alone created Universal Boot Media with necessary drivers boot the system a second time which allows for the installation of the necessary drivers.
The Universal Boot Media install files can be found as outlined here:
http://www.acronis.com/en-us/support/documentation/ATI2015/index.html#3…
Yes you are using your single computer to do all of this. Both boot media run in system RAM during these procedures. and only write to disk during
A. The restore of the Backup file and
B. The installation of the necessary drivers.

In the link I provided in post #3 of this thread scroll down the page and choose "Acronis Universal Boot (language) in your preferred language and click on it. Those links are file download links which will allow you to download the file and language you choose which you then can run from within Windows File Explorer to create the Universal Restore Media.

If you are unfamiliar with the way Linux works you should choose the Windows-like option since that would be a more familiar interface.

There is no hard and fast guide here. I don't mean to be condescending here but I think because of your responses thus far in this thread you are really in over your knowledge and skills level here. I recommend that seek some local professional help with this so as not to create yourself more trouble than you already have.

I would just like to explain a few things before trying to help you. MVP's do not work for Acronis. We are all users like you that are trying to help other users. Bob is one of the most helpful users on this forum. He has tried very hard to help you and has been very patient. Just so you know, I will not be as patient; but I will try to help you. I'm going to explain it from the beginning, so don't be upset if I cover things you already understand.
First, I will answer your direct question about what to put in the Linux parameter box. You don't need to put anything there. It is only a box to put parameters that may be needed if your computer will not boot with the Linux recovery media. Just leave the box blank and click Next. If your computers boot with the Media you are all set.
Restoring a backup on a new computer with different hardware is a two step process. You need two recovery media to do it. First, you boot the new computer with the normal recovery media and restore the backup to the new computer. Then you boot the new computer with the Universal Restore recovery media and inject Windows drivers into the new system that will allow it to boot on the new hardware. The Universal Restore boot media will only work on a Windows system. If you have restored a Linux system in the first step, you do not use the Universal Restore media. Linux will probably be able to adapt to the new hardware. Although Linux will probably not boot until the boot loader is refreshed. For that you will need the Linux startup disk created by that Linux system and you will need to know the proper command to issue. I used to know all this, but have forgotten. You probably know this much better than I do.
You need to create the Universal Restore media by using the Windows menu item under Acronis that is called "Run Universal Boot Media Builder." You need to select the default Linux media. The WinPE based media option has a program bug and will not run the Universal Restore program after you boot with it. If you want to create a WinPE version, you can follow my guide here https://forum.acronis.com/forum/71918 . I have it working. You will also get a media that will run both TI 2015 and Universal Restore from one media.
When you do get to the point of using the Universal Restore program, you will need the correct Windows drivers for the new computer's motherboard and SATA controller. These drivers need to be the form of .inf and .sys files. Drivers supplied as .exe files will not work.
