How exactly to create a bootable clone of my SSD with a True Image bootable CD?

Thread needs solution

I would like to know exactly what to click in order to create a bootable image of my SSD.

In other words, I want to be able to restore my SSD to a earlier point in time if I ever want to, and still be able to boot into Windows like nothing ever happened.

I am using the bootable CD, and I created a backup by choosing the "partitions" option. I selected both partitions (the other was the recovery partition) and the backup was created as a .tib file.

However, I noticed that you can also back up "files and folders".. what is the difference? Because I can simply select the whole C drive -- will this also be bootable? I'm guessing that backing up "files and folders" does not also backup the MBR and whatnot, correct?

Anyways, how can I be sure that I have an actual image of my SSD with everything it needs to be bootable?

Luke,

The disk/partitions backup is what your need to be able to do a backup that will allow you to restore your SSD as you have described. I would would switch to disk mode from the partitions selection screen, and select the entire SSD disk instead of selecting partitions. The results would be the same as selecting all the partitions on the SSD, but makes sure your have them all selected.

If you have more than one hard disk in your system, you need to verifiy that the SSD is the only drive necessary for system boot up. You can do this by temporarily disconnecting any other internal hard drives and turning the system on. If your system boot normally, then the full disk based backup of your SSD is all you need to be able to restore to earlier points in time. If your system fails to boot properly without any other drives connected, but works okay when they are, you would need to back up the addtional drives/partitions required for boot.
