How to get Acronis True Image 8 BartPE Plugin - Its Not Listed On the My Reg Page!

Thread needs solution

Anyone know how to obtain the Acronis True Image 8 BartPE plugin?
Why it is not listed on the My-Registered-Products-page?

I am on the road and in the middle of a disaster recovery for my business (and I am trying not to sound like my hair is on fire), so needless to say, needing the plugin and not finding it there is adding to my stress-level ;^)

I wrote support, but I figured I'd post here as well... I am sure there are other version 8 users still abounding out there who need to know about this.

Another question I have is, if I want to upgrade and enjoy the same features as 8 has, what is the best option? There is such a maze of products, and the way is not clear, and also, I am wondering which ones are the most reliable considering some of the versions have had reliability issues.

Thanks for chiming in ;^)

That's a very old version and the plug-ins were included in the installation file, if that version came with a plug-in. But you had to choose a Custom install as it doesn't get installed by default.

I contacted support Saturday thru the form via my login and I still have heard nothing back... support, where are you?

Hello TwoHawks,

Thank you very much for your post. I am very sorry for the delay, but I will definitely assist you in resolving this issue.

I have found your support request and I shall take care of that case personally.

Unfortunately, there is no BartPE plugin for Acronis True Image 8.0. The version 9.0 right after it had that option. I am very sorry for the inconvenience.

If you have any more issues or questions TwoHawks, please let me know and I will assist you.

Thank you.

Thank you for your efforts, Anton.

I want to let everyone know how this panned out.

I have been in recovery hell for 4 weeks... I will feel the effects of lost data for months to come, but it could be worse, I was able to work some serious magic and get almost everything back and rebuild my work environment (a bit swiss cheese at the moment, but repairable now). I did lose some serious data though, but I'm sure I will rebuild it over the coming months.

Acronis products were players in helping overcome some serious hurdles, in spite of Acronis product-related issues.

As for service.... I wish you, Anton, had not stated here in the forum that Acronis could not help me, and then I find email from you buried in my box weeks later providing help I may have been able to use. I applaud your effort, really, but there was no reason not to mention in the forum here for me to check for messages from you elsewhere.

In a disaster you cannot assume someone even has access to anything other than what they are using to contact you with, and even then, you should make above-board arrangements for further communication if that is your intention...

I want to let folks know that, although I am complaining about and pointing out what I feel is a fairly serious support mistake, and could seriously affect customer confidence negatively (any customer sharing similar experience as I just had), I still think Acronis on the whole is doing a great job, providing excellent development effort on serious products we need, and is providing some great support features for their products.
Thank you.

Sure wish I had known you actually intended to help and contact me on the back end. Huge mistake not letting me know that. I have no idea why you would presume to tell me otherwise here on the forum -- there is absolutely no reason I can think of for that.

Just putting it on the table as fairly as possible... folks in the community should know these things.

Cheers,
TwoHawks

Hello TwoHawks!

Thank you for your reply and for the feedback provided! We really appreciate it, and I must add that it is highly valuable for us.

From yours and Anton's post I can see that here some misunderstanding happened, and I will be happy to shed some light to the situation.

As I can see from your account you previously owned Acronis True Image Home 8.0 version. Unfortunately it is so outdated that it not only suffers from the lack of new features and modern hardware support, but also it's not updated, developed and supported anymore.

So version 8.0 doesn't contain Bart-PE plug in, and the only option here was to upgrade - that's all we could advise you in this case. But we decided that should you have opened this thread with such question, you are in need of urgent recovery. So we requested the approval from the Management team to provide you with the version that contains Bart-PE as an exception. As soon as we received a permission, we contacted you personally - due to this information is personal and private. I would like to ask you to keep in mind, that this Forum is not only an ability to gain assistance, but also a public source, and every your thread and every reply may be reviewed by other customers. Thus Anton's reply is official and correct - Acronis True Image Home 8.0 doesn't contain Bart-PE, it is outdated and not developed anymore, all you can do here is upgrade the product.

But that doesn't mean we are not willing to help you since you have an old version of our product: we are always looking for a solution that should suit you best, and definitely help you in case of emergency. That's why we contacted you via PM and through the case you've created (as far as this information was private and personal).

As per your upgrade question in the very beginning of the thread - I would advise you to choose Acronis True Image Home 2010. It is the latest version for home usage and contains a lot of new features. Please kindly test the solution to be sure it suits you, and do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have. Also you may be interested in reviewing the User's Guides for more details. And should you need to recover the images to the dissimilar hardware - we have a Acronis True Image Home 2010 Plus Pack add-on for it.

I would appreciate if you could kindly let us know whether you have any further questions or concerns - we will be glad to help you!

Thank you for your cooperation and sharing your opinion with us!

I just wanted to post back a thank you to you and your team, Yana.. let everyone know how things panned out.

I had an extremely horrible episode facing major data and customized system loss. Not only was my system "swiss cheesed" (literally), I couldn't even find that out until I recovered and rebuilt the raw data from the hammered drive. Unfortunately, due to reasons I will never fully have sussed out, my backup was corrupted, and my secondary was inaccessible because I was travelling.

Rebuilding my system from scratch, as complex as it is (major customizations) would have taken me 6 months, so I was determined to recover my drive remnants as well as possible and then rebuild upon that (being on the road was a factor as well).

There may have been some bumps in the communication with Acronis, but folks should know Acronis was there to support me, and responded not only to my requests for help, but also to my criticisms and input. In my mind, aside from good products that are well supported this is what makes a company worth their salt -or not-.
As a matter of fact, some aspects of the support Acronis offered me went beyond their responsibilities. It would be silly to expect that for yourself based on a comment by someone here, but it should be mentioned... typical experience is for a party to do what is least expected and leave it there... that was not the case here, and I am grateful.

So thank you for the attentive support, folks. Considering my mixed experience (and feedback), all in all it should be stated you did your job with flying colors, and di not leave me hanging.

Lastly, I should mention that an important piece to my recovery scenario, which entailed capturing the raw data from the drive, re-imaging it, placing it back, rebuilding the partitions and filesystem (ntfs) base, and then working on gradually replacing irreconciliably damaged files, whihc included the use of quite a variety of tools...
...One of the important tools I invested in was Acronis Disk Director 10.
After restoring the raw image I had built, and using some of the best availbel tools for trying to rebuild the filesystem base for the partitions, DD was the only tool that could finally facilitated accomplishing this critical task. Its a great tool to have in your toolbox, I am glad I found it.

Cheers,
TwoHawks
