How long should it take to clone a 300GB drive?

Thread needs solution

Just bought a WD 320 PATA drive to replace a dying SATA drive.

When running this program, I ran through the initial instructions regarding partitioning and such, and it says that it has to reset the computer after stage 1 of 4. Problem is...my computer hangs (or it seems to be hanging) after the loading of the gagp30kx.sys driver (Windows XP) and it never gets to the desktop.

How long should it take to clone a 300GB HD?

This is the 3rd time I've run through it and it always hangs at the same spot. If I reset the computer, it runs to the desktop but there's no GUI associated with the Acronis program for further instructions or whatever.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Which version and build of TI are you using?

Have you tried booting to the TI CD and doing the clone procedure?

Whoops, forgot to indicate which program. Using the Acronis True Image WD Edition. Thanks. Ran it after the installation.

The WD Edition allows you to create the bootable media. Create the CD, boot to it and try the procedure. This is the first thing to try when it fails on reboot.

Another option is to uninstall the WD version, install the TI 2010 trial version, and try it.

Hello,

MudCrab, thank you for the help.

Lee, let me assist you further. As MudCrab mentioned, please try to create a backup of your drive using a bootable CD. It should help you to overcome the issues you experiencing within Windows.

Please reply to this thread if the issue still persists.

Thank you.
