How to mirror a drive

Thread needs solution

I want to keep a full backup of my main drive, including operating system, so that I can restore in case of a catastrophic failure. Is there a way to copy and restore the full system?

Create a full disk backup, selecting the checkbox for the entire disk (not just individual partitions). That ensures that you have everything you need, and you won't need to understand how the disk is laid out with possible hidden partitions. A full disk backup captures everything, and is the simplest, safest backup method.

To test that you can restore on your system, boot from the Recovery Media, and choose a file-based restore and restore a couple of files. That will give you high confidence that you'd be able to do a full restore if you ever needed to.
