How to properly recover an SSD partition using Acronis Home 2010?

Thread needs solution

I have a Intel X-25M 80GB SSD drive with a single partition using the complete drive as my Windows 7 64bit OS system drive.

I've seen a post stating that we should be using Acronis Disk Director Home to partition the drive before actually recovering the partition?

I'm using Acronis True Image Home 2010. What is the official procedure for properly recovering a partition to an SSD?

If the partition was aligned when you created the backup image of the SSD, you should be fine doing a normal restore. The alignment should be retained.

I justy checked with 2 different tools and methods on my SSD alignment. Thery both say it is misaligned. Is there a way for me to align my SSD using Disk Director 11, or another method before using the recovery in 2010? My SSD is an X25-M 80GB and it's all used for my OS.

Thanks...

Boot to the DD CD and make sure the Disk Layout is set to Windows 7 or Bootable Media. Then resize the Windows 7 partition just a bit smaller from the left side and commit the change. Then resize it back to full size. I've done this in a test and it aligned the start.

Otherwise, if you delete the partition and recreate it using DD when booted to the CD, it should be aligned to Vista/Windows 7 standards. Then restore your image into the aligned partition. You could also use the Windows 7 installer to create the partition.

It's recommended to create an Entire Disk Image backup before making partitioning changes.
