how to recover to a different maschine?

Thread needs solution

Hi all, please take my hand...the disaster happend:
xp based maschine, back uped with True Image Home 2009 has r.i.p.ed. (processor). Bootmedium has been done and available. Back up files are stored on a NAS. Fortunately I have a different maschine also available. I could simply buy a new HD and could start from scratch.
Could someone give me some hints how to start and proceed? Do I have to install xp first or can I start with the boot medium even the new maschine differs a little from the crashed?

Thanks for some help

To restore that Image to a different system you will need the Workstation version of True Image together with the extra cost add-on called Universal Restore. UR does not work with True Image Home.

The alternative is to start from scratch ... install the OS then your apps then copy your old data to the new system, assuming that the old hard drive is still readable.

ok...how to get that add-on by what cost? Data has been stored to a NetworkAttachedStorage...so I assume it will be accessable after having restoring the system.
Thank you in advance for further information.

All the products are on the Acronis website. You cannot assume anything when it comes to True Image.

Hello skubidoo,

Thank you for using [[http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/ | Acronis Products]]

Acronis Universal Restore is required to restore the image of Windows operating system to another hardware configuration. It the implementation of the unique technology developed inside Acronis that allows changing Windows Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL.dll) and device drivers. Acronis Universal Restore automatically detects if the HAL should be changed and also allows adding drivers for new hardware devices. This feature was designed for Corporate products and can’t be used with Home products.

I may recommend you Acronis Backup & Recovery Workstation with Universal Restore for $89. Please have a look using the [[http://www.acronis.com/backup-recovery/workstation/ | following link]]
