How to test the bootable rescue CD without any damage to my computer?

Thread needs solution

Good day!
I have BlackArmor WS110 external hard drive with a preloaded Acronis Backup software. I made Backup images for all the partitions C, D and E of my computer and created for the first time a bootable rescue CD (No autostart configured).
Please, explain me how to test this bootable CD without any damage to my computer: just to be convinced that it works without errors but not to make a real boot for the system.

Hello Victor,

Welcome to our forum and thank you for posting. I will definitely assist you.

There is a simple way to do this without committing any changes so that you know that you can rely on the bootable CD in case of a system failure. Boot from bootable CD and try going through the recovery wizard so that you know that your hard drives are detected properly and your backup location is detected. Select the backup and continue going through the wizard, there is nothing to worry about because the recovery will start only when you have confirmed it at the last step of the wizard.

You can also check this guide from Acronis True Image 2010 Home User Guide, the BlackArmor software is based on this version of Acronis. Please check page 28 which is available here.

There are also this KB article that can be useful:

 - Restoring to Dissimilar Hardware with Acronis True Image Home 2010 Plus Pack, a step-by-step description of the recovery procedure, you can ignore the Acronis Universal Restore part, otherwise the rest is the same.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.
