How to try Linux Mint KDE ?

Thread needs solution

Acronis Home 2011 is just fine for backing up/restoring partitions but if i install say, Linux Mint KDE (or probably any other version), when i restore, Linux installation continues to resurface.

Is it possible to backup/restore Windows 7 without any traces of previously installed Linux OS ?

I assume you're talking about GRUB (the boot manager used by Mint). If it takes over the booting of the computer it will be restored when you restore the backup (if it's in the backup).

If you want them completely separate, install Mint to a different physical drive and switch between them using the BIOS boot menu. For example, if you have two drives: Windows would be on one, Mint on the other. Disconnect the Windows drive and install Mint to the other drive. When finished, reconnect the Windows drive and set it back as the booting drive. Use the BIOS Boot Menu to select which drive to boot.

Otherwise, just do a boot repair on Windows to restore its booting code. You could also use a different boot manager and have Mint install GRUB to the Mint partition.
