I just downloaded ATI 2010 trial and...

Thread needs solution

...I was given a license key but it appears a second key is needed for the "Universal Restore."
First, what is the Universal Restore and which Acronis products provides it?

I need to clone a couple of hard drives AND I would like to use a feature that will allow me to create a DVD or series of DVDs that will allow me to do a system restore. Even a separate hard drive partition for restore just like the big boys have for laptop restores would be nice to have. Of course I need to do normal data backups as well as a complete partition image.

Does ATI Home 2010 provide these features? If not which package would?

Universal Restore (UR) is included in the Plus Pack. I don't think the trial version allows using it. UR is used when you need to restore Windows to a different computer (with different physical hardware) instead of the original computer.

You can make DVD backups. However, backing up to a USB drive is recommended, especially if the backup doesn't fit on one DVD. This avoids having to excessively swap DVDs.

You can setup the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager (ASRM) to allow you to boot into TI when you boot the computer. TI 2010 no longer uses the Secure Zone (SZ) for the ASRM. The files are booted from the Windows partition. Make sure you have other media (CD, flashdrive, etc.) available to boot into TI in case the internal drive fails or becomes corrupted.
