IDE TO SATA
Does True Image allow me to take all data off IDE drive and move to SATA drive. I know there are disk driver issues. How would that work if it can?

tuttle
That is NOT a very helpful response, sorry to say.
I have 2012 with plus pack. I examined article 2711: Transferring a System from IDE to SATA Hard Disk and Vice Versa which states article is for
This article applies to:
* Acronis Migrate Easy 7.0
* Acronis True Image 11 Home
* Acronis True Image Home 2009
* Acronis True Image Home 2010
* Acronis True Image Home 2011
which you can see does not include 2012 with Plus pack. Some simple instructions would be more than nice. I have an old system with IDE and would like to move to new system with SATA. How 'exactly' can I do this?
Thank you in advance.

You asked if it could be done, and I correctly said that it could. You didn't ask for detailed steps, nor did you clearly explain what you want to do, "sorry to say". If you want help, be specific. Otherwise we'll answer what you asked.
Check out the many tutorials linked in the left column of this forum, especially start with ATIH 2012 - Getting Started and Grover's True Image Guides. Grover has tutorials on many specific operations.
Perhaps you better explain what you mean by "move to new system with SATA", as that is vague. If your PC currently uses an IDE disk as its OS hard drive, and you want to change that to use a SATA HD for the OS, then that's one thing. If you want to move your OS, working applications and all from one Windows system to a new Windows system, to a different computer, then that's a different scenario with different solutions.

As is stated "NEW SYSTEM with SATA". Old system with IDE, NEW system with SATA!!

In fact, this is what you asked:
steve cristaldi wrote:Does True Image allow me to take all data off IDE drive and move to SATA drive.
Nothing there about new system, OS differences, hardware differences, etc. The answer to that question is "yes".
Again, you still didn't explain. Is the new system highly similar to the old one, or very different hardware? Is it the same OS, or different? IDE vs. SATA cannot be the sole difference. If it were, then the solution would be simple. As I said, moving from one drive to another requires one solution, while moving from one computer to a new, dissimilar computer requires a different solution. We can provide solutions, but need to know what you're trying to do

Anton,
Your suggested article did NOT help. So let's take this slow.
2711: Transferring a System from IDE to SATA Hard Disk and Vice Versa
Solution
Using the Clone Disk tool
Windows
1. Run the product;
2. In the main window of the program select the Clone Disk wizard;
3. Proceed with all the steps of the wizard.
4. (!) After the cloning completes, make sure you detach the old hard disk and keep the new (cloned) hard disk attached on the first system boot.
Does the above instruction set #1 dictate that the computer must have both the IDE and SATA drive attached on the same hardware at the same time?

Just to make sure (again) that everyone is clear as to my needs.
Have one older system with xp pro using ide. Another 'different' system with xp pro BUT using SATA.
Want to transfer all data from old ide system to new sata system. I have been told by 'many' including 'someone' that there is no problem with this. Not very helpful.

Do these computers have any common physical media at all (3 inch floppy, usb stick, ethernet connector, internet) ?
