Identifying tib files that are fulls vs incrementals

Thread needs solution

I have an unusual question I hope someone can answer. I have a PC that is decommissioned but I still need to keep a single full backup of the system in my archives. The system has a chain of backups (tib files). Some are fulls and some are incremental. I use TI2010 rev7154.

My question is this, how do I determine what tib files are fulls? I do not want to keep the whole chain, just a single full backup. Normally the larger backup would be the full but in this case it's difficult to say for sure. I don't want to mistakenly keep an incremental tib thinking it was a full and not have all the data. Another issue is that the log files are not accessible since the server is decommissioned. Normally the logs would have helped.

Any thoughts?

Thank you,
John

If you know the schedule that was being used, you should be able to tell from the file size, file name, and the date. There should be a pattern where the Full is created, followed by the Incrementals, followed by another Full, etc.

Copy the Full backup image (or one you think is a Full) to another drive, rename it to something else and then try to validate it with TI. If it validates successfully, you have a Full. An Incremental or Differential backup will not validate or even open when separated from the chain.
