Imac Backup

Thread needs solution

I am receiving an old what I believe to be an imac g4 (NON-INTEL). I understand acronis will not run on a mac at all. If I attach it via USB to a pc w/ windows than Acronis should be able to back up using sector backup correct? I know nothing about macs, I will be receiving no CDS and I would like to at least create some sort of backup before I being to learn something.

Even if True Image was able to make a Backup of the IMac drive, you should also be confident that it will be able to carry out a successful restore. And the only way to do this is to actually restore to a spare drive.
Have you looked into using whatever Mac users use for Backup? A Mac forum should point you in the right direction.

Hello Danny and DwnNDrty,

Danny, most probably you won't be able to back up your iMac if it will be attached to any other Windows machine. Apple computers has a completely different file system structure and partition mapping.

I may suggest you to have a look at Apple native utilities, such as built-in Time Machine or a great free utility SuperDuper!

Thank you.
