Image Network System disk

Thread needs solution

Hi

In 2007 I purchased Acronis True Image 9.1 Workstation and Acronis True Image Workstation Maintenance and using them I was able to take an image of a computer on the same network as the computer with Acronis installed.

In 2011 I upgraded to a new PC and decided to upgrade to the latest version of Acronis - then Acronis True Image Home 2011. Unfortunately I can't see how to take an image of a network computer in the later version.

Does anyone know if it is possible to do with True Image Home 2011 and if not is it possible with the latest version? Or do I need another piece of Acronis software to achieve this?

thanks

In order to image a remote network connected machine, that machine would need to be running an agent of some kind.

The Home versions of True Image can not create images of remote systems, only file based backups of shares.

The corporate level products of Acronis are designed with this type of scenario in mind. Take a look at the corporate products line here: http://www.acronis.com/backup-recovery/smallbusiness.html. The desktop/workstation advanced version looks to be close to the 9.1 Workstation product.

thanks James

I'll have to sit down and really have a good look through those options.

Seems like this should be a feature of the home version it's not uncommon to have multiple PCs/laptops nowadays.

Would it be possible to install True Image home on the laptop and choose a network location as the destination for the image?

I doubt it's a common enough need to incorporate it into True Image, when another Acronis product is available to serve that need.

Sure, if there is a good, consistent connection to the network drive.

When using ATI with a network drive, use a UNC path to your NAS device for a backup destination, not a typical friendly "mapped" drive. e.g.
\\192.168.2.25\My Backups\

I believe it may also be possible to use a UNC path that includes server name rather than IP, such as
\\server1\My Backups\
