Incremental backup

I just do not understand how this app works. I have a directory of files on an internal hard drive that I want to create a backup with and then through time Acronis would just make a copy of the changes or additions. I did this but found that overnight it had created three complete copies which is not what I want.

I then tried Differential scheme and it appears to do the same thing.

Is there a simple way to copy the data from one hard drive in a data format not .tib and then have a scheduled backup for changes?
