The new interface makes it a real challenge! Acronis tried to make it simpler but I think they made it much harder. Try the following
1) From the Acronis True Image Home window, click on "Disk and partition backup" this will open the "Disk Backup" window
2) In the top half of the window select what you want to backup
3) In the bottom half there are several options you need to act on
4) "Exclusions" if you want to exclude anything click on the "Add" text (it should appear in blue)
5) "Destination" - by default it will be a drive either internal or attached to your system and will default to "My backups". I don't think this can be changed, if it can it is well hidden.
6) "Schedule" by default it is off, click on "Turn on" and then you can select Day, or Weekly or monthly or "Upon event", don't forget about the "advanced settings" in this window. Once you are happy with the schedule click OK and this will return you back to the "Disk Backup" window
7) "Backup scheme" (THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT) - click on the blue text and then click on the drop-down and select "Custom". The window will change and you will see a new drop-down, click on the drop-down and select "Incremental" (this is obvious as tits on a bull). After making all the desired changes Click on OK to return the "Disk Backup" window.
8) "Backup name" enter the name of your backup

Now for some bad news. I create an incremental backup and specified to create a new full version after 6 incremental versions and so I've created 23 incremental backups and no new full versions. This set has taken up 1.34TB of space. If you have different results please let me know.

I am sure Ken will appreciate your clear explanation. I certainly appreciate your help.
My external HDD is only 1TB so if that happens to me I am in big trouble. Cheers.

First after the upgrade, I find that it can't import my several existing incremental backups. Then I tried creating new ones and nothing seems to work well. I didn't try your suggestion because I don't want to back up a disk or partition. I want to do an incremental backup of, say, my documents or something. Used to be pretty simple. Add file backup. Pick the setting and run.

Now, when I create a new file backup, it starts set to a full backup. When I go to edit the settings, half the time, the button to config the type (on the first tab) is not enabled. If I can get it to enabled and then choose custom type and incremental, it seems to run the first time. At the second time, it runs but at the end reports that the file is corrupted.

I emailed support but haven't heard back.

What's the exact procedure to do an incremental backup?

After some experimentation it seems that the incremental backup has problems with removable disks (DVD.) I tried setting up a backup on a partition of my hard drive and it seems to function properly. When trying the same thing on a DVD, it doesn't work. It seems to forget that the backup was run (the backup button is misssing, only the recover one is there) or if it's run, it forgets to create an incremental backup and creates a full backup. Especially annoying when it's a multiple disk backup.
And still no repsonse from Tech support.
